ACSA Analysis: 2024-25 State Budget Proposal

The Legislature approved the 2024-2025 state budget agreement. The school funding (Prop. 98) levels contained in the budget represent a significant victory for schools and the students we serve. ACSA fought to reject the Prop. 98 manipulation proposal. Our success protects and retains nearly $5 billion in school funding this year alone. With that said, we continue to remind lawmakers that schools face serious fiscal challenges caused by declining enrollment; rising costs that schools have no control over — including employer funded pension expenses; expiring one-time funds; and attendance levels that still lag behind historical figures despite best efforts.
