Region 16 Champions Student Success at ACSA Legislative Action Day 2026!

Key Legislative Priorities:

Over the intense two-day event, our delegation championed three critical areas directly impacting our district’s students, educators, and families:

Robust & Stable School Funding: Advocating for the protection of Proposition 98 funding, rejecting proposed budget cuts, and pushing to boost the LCFF base grant to meet the true costs of running schools.

Classroom Continuity: Supporting AB 2490 (Valencia) to bring back the flexible 60-day substitute assignments, helping schools maintain classroom stability amidst ongoing staffing shortages.

Streamlining Accountability: Supporting AB 2008 (Patel) and AB 2496 (Solache) to reduce duplicative reporting burdens and replace redundant paperwork with the California School Dashboard.

Next Steps:

Our work doesn't stop in Sacramento. Region 16 is already planning a follow-up event with our District's Governmental Relations Office to ensure our grassroots advocacy continues to actively shape educational policy.

"Our voice, YOUR VOICE, is crucial in shaping policies that impact our schools and communities." Leonard Choi, Vice President of Legislative Action

Thank you to all of our incredible Region 16 delegates for stepping up, speaking out, and representing our community so powerfully!
